MIA RachelAndDogs??

Dear Friends and All Dog Lovers,

I must apologize for leaving the blog unpdated for weeks and weeks now. I had started work due to, very straight forward reason, I needed money!! I’m trying to adapt to the new environment and the new schedule for the time being. After 5 weeks now, slowly i’m blending to this new thing.

I’ll start or rather continue my blog again from now as I have not write about my Wallace for long long time. He’s 4 month old now and is like a baby tiger. Very naughty, and mischievous most of the time. As normal puppy do, he likes to bite on my hand, chew my slipper and once a while accident happen, pee & poo at my newly bought carpet. He need a lot of attention and behaviour training, if not this dog is going to be unattractive and disastrous….

Will upload his latest photo tonight! Merry X’mas and Happy New Year 2008 to all~!

Just Something To Share About Life…..

Have you ever, at any one time, had the feeling that life is bad, real bad, and you wish you were in another situation? You find life make things difficult for you, work sucks, life sucks, everything seems to go wrong …

Read the following story… it may change your views about life:
After a conversation with one of my friends, he told me despite taking 2jobs, he brings back barely above 1K per month, he is happy as he is.

I wonder how he can be as happy as he is considering he has to skimp his life with the low pay to support a pair of old parents, in-laws, a wife, 2daughters and the many bills of a household.

He explained that it was through one incident that he saw in India that happened a few years ago when he was really feeling low and touring India after a major setback.

He said that right in front of his very eyes he saw an Indian mother chop off her child’s right hand with a chopper. The helplessness in the mother’s eyes, the scream of pain from the innocent 4-year-old child haunted him until today.

You may ask why did the mother do so; had the child been naughty, had the child’s hand been infected?? No, it was done for two simple words- - -TO BEG!

The desperate mother deliberately caused the child to be handicapped so that the child could go out to the streets to beg.

Taken aback by the scene, he dropped a piece of bread he was eating half-way. And almost instantly, a flock 5 or 6 children swamped towards this small piece of bread which was covered with sand, robbing bits from one another. The natural reaction of hunger.

Stricken by the happenings, he instructed his guide to drive him to the nearest bakery. He arrived at two bakeries and bought every single loaf of bread he found in the bakeries. The owner was dumbfounded but willingly sold everything. He spent less than $100 to obtain about 400 loaves of bread (this is less than $0..25 per loaf) and spent another $100 to get daily necessities.

Off he went in the truck full of bread into the streets. As he distributed the bread and necessities to the children (mostly handicapped) and a few adults, he received cheers and bows from these unfortunate. For the first time in his life he wondered how people can give up their dignity for a loaf of bread which cost less than $0.25.

He began to tell himself how fortunate he is. How fortunate he is to be able to have a complete body, have a job! , have a family, have the chance to complain what food is nice and what isn’t nice, have the chance to be clothed, have the many things that these people in front of him are deprived of…

Now I begin to think and feel it, too! Was my life really that bad? Perhaps… no, I should not feel bad at all… What about you? Maybe the next time you think you are, think about the child who lost one hand to beg on the streets.

“Contentments not the fulfillment of what you want, it is the realization of how much you already have.”

When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don’t see the one which has been opened for us.

It’s true that we don’t know what we’ve got until we lose it, but it’s also true that! we don’t know what we’ve been missing until it arrives.

The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past, you can’t go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

Visit SPCA Penang!

Few days back, I have the chance to visit Penang’s SPCA. As an animal lover, I thought I should go there and have a look, how’s the environment and living condition of the stray dogs and cats who had been sent there.

SPCA in Penang (Pearl Of The Orient) was founded in 1948. It is a non-profit community-based organization whose primary roles are those of protecting and caring for animals.

The center is located at the old Jelutong Road, I have hard time finding the place cause I seldom drive around in town area. After a a few wrong turning, I finally saw the small SPCA sign board along Jelutong Road and I turn in. There are a few construction going on at that time, and there are not proper parking for the visitors…., so I just park my car along the small ‘lorong’ (means small lane in Malay) beside the center.

As expected, the center is not very big, the overall environment and outlook is very basic and simple only.

I was very excited and eager to go and visits all the ‘best friend’ staying there. After I inform the Indian lady that I would like to take a look at the dog, she just show me the place and leave us with the dogs. There’s a small gate before we enter the ‘mini-prison’ look like room for each dog. I was surprise, there are not many dogs in there. I can only see 7-8 dogs there very curiously wake up from their sleep and see who is visiting them.

Some are very alert, some are very friendly, and some are those quiet type. I was quite pity on them for not able to have a owner to take care of them. Most of them are mixed breed dog, we call it “paria” dog in local. However, they are quite lucky in the sense that, they have shelter here, and not like those stray dog outside, who need to get food from the rubbish area, need to run around to find places to hide when it comes to rainy days, and some get hit by car and died by the road side.

Below are a few picture taken during my visits.

1. This friend here very active and excited when he saw me, keep jumping and wagging his tail…, a nice doggy.

2. This guy stayed inside even though he saw visitors…, maybe he was too tired or in depression??

3. This is the same as the first one above, nice right…

4. “Woof…., who’s calling me..?”

5. “Are you the one??”

6. “Hey there…, what’s up??”

The 7th Month - Animal Ghost

Today is the 2nd day of the 7th Month in Chinese Calendar. Or people called it the Hungry Ghost Festival. A lot of superstitious and Do and Don’t among the believer during this 1 month, like not to come home late at night, not to say things that is unlucky, or not to talk about “them”.

At this moment, I was wondering whether does Dog or other animal can become ghost…. i found the below article from Shadowland…..

Animal Ghost

I have an affinity for stories of animals ghosts like the faithful dog returning to visit his master. I personally have experienced this with my dog Sparkee (who is featured on The Shadowlands main page) who came back 3 times to visit me and also appeared in a lucid dream. I have heard many stories about other animals returning from the grave. The most common seem to be dogs, cats, horses and birds. The experience can be auditory like hearing the jiggling of a collar and tags or hearing the animal bark, meow, etc. Others may see the animal like I did in my case. I have also heard of people feeling the animal curling up next to them in bed and not seeing anything there at the time. This brings us to the question of how is this possible? If we believe that ghosts are the spirits or souls of a deceased human being then wouldn’t that mean that the animal spirits are the same thing? Many religions do not believe that animals live on after death. I believe that certain animals, maybe even all, have a spirit that lives on. I have no doubt that what I had experienced with Sparkee was real and I’m sure all the others that have had a similar experience share this view. In fairness and keeping an open mind, I must also admit there is another popular theory concerning animal ghosts. This theory is that we give the pet, through our love and devotion, a “spirit” which is created from the energy of all out emotions concerning that pet and out wish to see it again. I have always leaned toward the first theory of animals having souls and there are many cases of psychics contacting the deceased animals which would not be as likely if the second theory was true. I’ll leave it up to you to decide for yourself.

I do want to mention one other type of animal ghost that we see in many stories and that is one that represents some evil presence in the home. For the most part the ghosts of pets normally just show themselves to their former family. There are other cases of a somewhat more active haunting also having an animal spirit being observed. Most investigators that deal with the darker hauntings look for this as a sign that there may be an evil presence at play somewhere in the situation. The most common animals to be seen in this type of haunting are black dogs, black cats, rabbits, goats and other small black rodent-like animals. Now they are usually seen in hauntings that do have other symptoms of a diabolical haunting so don’t assume if you see a dog ghost that you don’t know, that you have a evil spirit there, that’s jumping the gun a bit.

Home Sweet Home

Ohhhh….., finally, i’m 99% done with my new house renovation. It’s a real real tiring job but exciting, it’s my first time, choosing the sets of sofa I want, the color of wall I want, and the look of overall setting of my own house! It’s not an easy job and can really drained you out, both energy and financially -.-”

I learn  a few things from after this house reno thing. I thought I can share some with you.

1. First, decide on what type of concept you want your house to be. Zen? Antique? Japanese? or what, maybe can do some research on internet or go to the bookshop to get an idea to see what style you decided.

2. Do lots of research and shop a few shops before you rush and buy any furniture or electrical equipment including lights, fan, tables, etc. Compare their quality and the budget you can afford.

3. Once you know what you want, draft it down all and see whether is it within your budget. Always spare extra cash like a few thousands 0r more for the renovation cause sometime you might missed out certain things.

4. If you are not familiar with the different contractor on the reno, like plumber, carpenter, electrician and etc. It’s good that you go through and renovation company, they can give you advise and ideas, but of course, first and most important, you must tell them what you like. Remember the small small things like, light and fan position, light setting for all rooms, power point position, and it can go on and on to very details. It’s best if you can go to their showroom, or look at some examples of ready build model so you can have better visualization.

I guess there are more tips on the reno things… but so far this is how much I can share with you :).

Rescue a pet while you shop!

Isn’t it good that while you buy something for your pet, at the same time, you are helping one of the Pet Rescue Team in their funds? As you know, most Pet Rescue Team are running by volunteers, and they are non-profit organization, and they need lots of support and charity from the public to make sure the organization is running as it was suppose to be. Each year, they rescue lots of homeless and abandoned dogs and provide them with proper shelter.

I found out this store recently and feel like to share to the world. Kind of happy that there is such store to help in the charity work.

How it works?

When you purchase something from Rescue Pet Store, a portion of your order (10%), goes to the animal rescue group of your choice. You can find out more in their website.

Rescue Pet Store - benefiting the animal rescue community

Something to share - Fate Of A Dog

I thought of sharing this for quite sometime, maybe now is the time to let more people know about their responsibility and the fate of a dog.

Can dog see spirits?

Today i’m doing some small research on this topic. I notice that most article who talk about this are Asian sites. Maybe the myth about using dog’s tear to let someone see a spirit originally came from Chinese legend. Either it’s a legend or truth, but most people dare not try it so nobody can find out.

Actually, they are saying that if you use the tears of four-legged animal, that includes, cow, horse, cat or dog and apply it onto human eyes, then he or she will permanently see what their four-legged friends are seeing. Permanently? That’s too cruel….! Why people refer more to dog? I think basically, most people keep pet like dog or cat at home instead of cow and horse nowadays. Some may experience that dog like to bark at night, looking outside, or staring at a door or a chair, but when we go find out what went wrong, usually we don’t see anything. I hope I’m not scaring you at this point. I do encounter that before, but I never think of anything whenever that happen, I just pet my dog and ask him not to make anymore noise.

But if we never harm anyone or hurt anyone on purpose, we shouldn’t be afraid of anything. To see or not to see the spirit, sometimes depends on your luck and various ‘x-factor’, not everyone have the luck you know :).
