I am not too sure about other Miniatures Schnauzer puppy out there, but my Wallace seems to be very “baby-like”. He can make those sound like small baby crying when I hold him after come back from outside a few hours. I will feel bad if I don’t hug him immediately, cause the sound is really like crying out for love and need a mom to pet him calmly. As I don’t really put him in the crate, he will follow me whenever I walk around the house. Luckily he get tired sometimes after running around, so that I can write blog and do other things at home….

Smelling my toe.

See how aggressive a 7 week old puppy can be……. scary ya…………….
Wallace is now quite strong in biting people. Whenever he is hungry or time for meals, he do not allow me to late serving his meal even 1 minute, he will bully me by biting my leg or my hand very hard. It’s time to discipline this naughty little baby I guess……

Do you want to know why Wallace got this kind of boring look? Haha… it’s because he is scared of height. I put him on the mattress and he dare not stand or move too much, so end up like that.

Previously I let him sleep in the maid room, but he feel lonely at night and wanted accompany. Worry that his noise might disturb the neighbor, and I can’t sacrifice my sleep either, so I have to move him to our guest room and accompany him to sleep. See how sweet he sleep!

While I’m busy with my computer, my little darling is giving me sad face and making me feel so guilty…..
Last night, when I’m so into writing the blog, suddenly I feel something behind, when I turned back, I saw this little darling sitting there watching me. He didn’t make a noise, just sitting there quietly, waiting for me to play with him. I’ll feel so guilty if I didn’t make up a good hug for him!

Wallace has beens sleeping quite a lot ever since I brought him back from the breeder. He look so tired and sleepy and only wake up to release himself on the paper and seems to be playful only for a very short period. I didn’t realize he was having diarrhea until the 3rd day when I called the breeder and ask about his previous condition. Seems that he’s not getting used to the new environment or maybe the dry food that I’m giving him upsetting his stomach. I’ve brought him to see a Vet on Sunday and now still monitoring his ‘poo’, and still not much improvement. The Vet advise that it maybe the dog food. I’ve temporary giving Wallace boiled chicken mixed with some rice, hopefully he can recover soon!
See how sweet he is sleeping.

Keeping a puppy, is no easy job. As an owner, I need to take full responsibility, to take care of him like my own baby. So, 2 days before he arrived, I have to follow the following note to make sure our house is safe for him to play around.
Puppy-Proof Your House
To avoid any unforeseen accidents, you need to make sure the house is safe for the innocent puppy to move around. Get down on all fours and look around. Take note of electrical wires, cords dangling from the blinds, chewy shoes on the floor. Those are very dangerous and attractive to the puppy!
In the kichen:
- Keep all knives and sharp other sharp edge utensils away in the drawers
- Get a trash with a tight-fitting lid
- Keep all household cleaners in cupboards that can be closed securely
In the house:
- Tape up or cover electrical cords and consider a childproof covers for unused outlets
- Knot or tie up any dangling cords from curtains, blinds, and telephone
- Put away all potential dangerous item like medicines, vitamins, cigarettes, pen, pencils, pipe and laundry products
- Move breakable items off low tables and shelves
- Keep all small and chewable items like remote controls, cellphones, shoes, books, magazines and anything that can be chewed on
In the bathroom
- Keep all household cleaners, shampoos, perfumes, and other chemical items in the cupboards
- Keep the toilet bowl lid down always
- Don’t use toilet bowl cleaners that release chemicals into the bowl every time you flush
In the yardÂ
- Put the gardening tools away after each use
- If you have a pool, keep it covered or restrict your pup’s access to it when there is no one to supervise
- Inspect all fence and gates and make sure no gaps or holes in between
- Make sure there is no toxic plants in the garden, you pup may accidentally eat them!
Things To Buy
There are quite a number of item to buy. I’ll be a long list if to list out all. I just buy the necessary for him at the moment
- Food and water dishes
- Leash
- Collar
- Pet carrier
- Nail cutters
- Grooming tools (will elaborate more on next post)
- Toys & Chew Toys
Things To Bear In Mind
Expect some sleepless night like I did for the past 2 nights as the puppy will not get used to the new environment and will cry a few times. They have feeling like us too, they will miss their mom, and their brothers too. Be patience and gentle with them. It depends on individual puppy, some may be more noisy than the other. Luckily my Miniature Schnauzer doesn’t make very loud noise, and cry about 3-4 times when he release himself and need me to clear for him. After I pet him to sleep, he sleep sweetly like a baby.

Finally, the puppy I’ve been waiting for is big enough for me to bring home. I named him Wallace (after the show Wallace & Gromit, though the dog’s name was Gromit and not Wallace in the show). He is around 6 weeks old now (44 days as of yesterday). He seems a little shy and not willing to follow me home yesterday, maybe he knew that it will be the last time he can spend time with his mother and mates.
But he has no choice cause he’s too little to fight back, and so, I take him away from his mom (how cruel I am….) and drove him home…
He’s a little scared on the journey back, but after I pet him a few times, he seems to be OK and fall asleep fast.
Once back home, he don’t quite get used to it yet and seems a little ‘in-active’. Due to I live in a condo, I have not backyard or garden to potty train him. What I do is, I place the newspaper near his sleeping area, so that he can release it there.
The first time, he pee a little out of the ‘assigned’ area, but still have room to improve since it’s half in and half out of the newspaper. After a little snap (2-3 hours), he woke up and poo on the newspaper! How smart my little Wallace is!
There are a few things you need to prepare before bringing home a puppy. Will share with you the tips in tomorrow’s post! Don’t miss it….!
1. “Oh no.. this place is so new to me, everything is different…., how? What am I going to do? Who will take care of me now??”

2. “Mmmm…, very warm hand…, luckily I found this hand make me feel better.”

3. “Yum-yum.., the finger very good for biting also, feel soooo good…..”

4. “Um…..the thumb feel even better….”

5. “What…, I ain’t suppose to bite on those fingers?”

6. “What’s this..? Chewing bone?”

7. “Yucks! It taste funny…”

8. “I still prefer this finger licking good tumb!! Umm~~~”
